The KOOS expanded the WOMAC (osteoarthritis scale) to be more responsive to younger, active patients with sports-related knee injuries.
Each subscale is scored independently from 0 to 100. Higher scores = Better outcomes.
Subscale Score = 100 - [(Mean raw score of items) x 100 / 4]
Active athletes often score 100 on ADLs but show deficits in "Sport/Rec" and "Quality of Life." This dissociation is critical for differentiating between "Functional Recovery" and "Psychological Impact."
