The Tegner scale grades activities by their specific demand on the knee, from sedentary desk work (Level 2) to elite-division soccer (Level 10).
The patient selects the SINGLE highest level of activity they are currently capable of performing.
A high Lysholm score (e.g., 90) in an athlete at Tegner Level 3 is clinically different from a score of 90 at Tegner Level 9. The latter indicates a much higher functional capacity because the knee is stable under extreme athletic loads.
