Mechanism of Action
ACETAMINOPHEN AND CODEINE PHOSPHATE

Acetaminophen: centrally acting analgesic and antipyretic, possibly via inhibition of cyclooxygenase (COX) and modulation of cannabinoid receptors. Codeine: prodrug converted to morphine; mu-opioid receptor agonist.

AMMONIUM CHLORIDE 2.14%

Ammonium chloride is an acidifying agent. It dissociates into ammonium and chloride ions. The ammonium ion is metabolized in the liver to urea and hydrogen ions, leading to metabolic acidosis. This reduces blood p H and increases renal excretion of alkaline urine.
