Foundations

The Clinical Standard

OpiCalc is built on a foundation of absolute clinical integrity. Our mission is to provide clinicians with the most accurate, evidence-based tools for point-of-care decision support. Every calculator, score, and algorithm in our registry is engineered to meet the highest standards of medical integrity.

We believe that medical infrastructure should be designed by those who use it. OpiCalc is directed by practicing physicians, ensuring every tool meets the rigorous standards of active clinical practice.

Process

Evidence-Based Methodology

Evidence Only

Every tool in our registry is mapped directly to original source documentation. We rely on the highest tier of peer-reviewed evidence—primarily randomized controlled trials and large-scale validation studies—to ensure clinical fidelity.

Logic Validation

Formulas are independently derived and cross-referenced. We do not aggregate from third-party sites; we verify every line of logic against the original study data to eliminate "cascading errors" common in medical software.

Workflow

The Editorial Lifecycle

1

Identification

We select tools based on clinical impact and the strength of validation data. Tools without broad consensus or those based on outdated practice guidelines are excluded from the core registry.

2

Mapping & Engineering

Our team extracts logic directly from primary research. We build "non-custodial" architectures that process patient data locally, ensuring privacy while maintaining mathematical precision.

3

Clinical Oversight

Implementations are reviewed by lead clinicians to ensure they align with real-world clinical safety and hospital workflows. We prioritize clarity in results to prevent misinterpretation at the bedside.

Neutrality

Independence & Bias

OpiCalc is operationally independent. Our editorial process is entirely separate from any sponsorship or external influence. We do not accept funding that would compromise our clinical objectivity or lead to the preferential inclusion of specific tools.

"Accuracy is our only metric. We exist to support clinical judgment, not to replace it or influence it through commercial bias."

Stewardship

Updates & Maintenance

Medicine is a dynamic field. Our editorial team performs quarterly reviews of the entire tool registry. When new validation data is published or clinical guidelines are updated (e.g., by the AHA, ESC, or WHO), we prioritize the rapid update of the relevant tools.

Users are encouraged to report any discrepancies or suggest new evidence via support@opicalc.com.
