Acetaminophen (paracetamol) is a non-opioid analgesic and antipyretic. Ibuprofen is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that inhibits cyclooxygenase (COX-1 and COX-2) enzymes, reducing synthesis of prostaglandins involved in inflammation, pain, and fever.
Oral: 400 mg every 4-6 hours as needed for pain; maximum 1200 mg/day.
800 mg IV every 8 hours as a 30-minute infusion; alternatively, 400 mg IV every 6 hours. Maximum daily dose: 2400 mg.
