Mechanism of Action
ACTRON

Acetaminophen (paracetamol) is a non-opioid analgesic and antipyretic. Its mechanism is not fully understood but involves inhibition of cyclooxygenase (COX) enzymes in the central nervous system, reducing prostaglandin synthesis. It also modulates the endocannabinoid system and serotonergic pathways.

FIRMAGON

Gonadotropin-releasing hormone (Gn RH) receptor antagonist; competitively binds to Gn RH receptors in the anterior pituitary, rapidly reducing luteinizing hormone (LH) and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) secretion, thereby suppressing testosterone production in males.

Lactation Summary

Excreted in breast milk; M/P ratio 0.15. Low oral bioavailability to infant; considered compatible with breastfeeding. Monitor infant for sedation or feeding problems.

It is not known whether degarelix is excreted in human milk. Avoid in patients with active peptic ulcer disease, bleeding diathesis, or advanced renal disease. Monitor renal function and signs of bleeding. Use lowest effective dose for shortest duration. May cause bronchospasm in aspirin-sensitive asthma.

FIRMAGON

FIRMAGON (degarelix) is a Gn RH antagonist indicated for advanced prostate cancer. It does not cause testosterone flare like Gn RH agonists. Monitor serum calcium in patients with bone metastases due to risk of hypercalcemia. Injection site reactions are common; rotate sites and apply warm compresses.
