Terminal elimination half-life: d-amphetamine 10-13 hours, l-amphetamine 13-15 hours; in adults (children: 6-8 hours). The longer half-life allows for once-daily dosing.
Benzphetamine has a long elimination half-life of 10-16 hours (up to 20 hours in some individuals). Its active metabolites (amphetamine and methamphetamine) have half-lives of 10-12 hours and 9-11 hours, respectively. Steady state is reached within 3-4 days.
