Salmeterol is a long-acting beta2-adrenergic agonist (LABA) that stimulates adenyl cyclase, increasing cAMP levels, leading to bronchodilation and inhibition of mast cell mediator release.
Mineralocorticoid receptor agonist; promotes sodium reabsorption and potassium excretion in renal distal tubules, increasing extracellular fluid volume. Also has glucocorticoid activity.
