Mechanism of Action
ALA-SCALP

ALA-SCALP (aminolevulinic acid) is a photosensitizer precursor that is converted intracellularly to protoporphyrin IX (Pp IX), which accumulates in cells with increased heme synthesis, such as rapidly dividing cells. Upon exposure to blue light (BLU-U®), Pp IX produces reactive oxygen species, leading to cellular damage and apoptosis of targeted cells.

A-METHAPRED

Methylprednisolone is a synthetic glucocorticoid that binds to the glucocorticoid receptor, leading to modulation of gene expression and suppression of inflammatory mediators such as cytokines, prostaglandins, and leukotrienes. It also induces lipocortin synthesis, inhibits phospholipase A2, and reduces immune cell activity.

A-Methapred is a brand of methylprednisolone sodium succinate.
