It acts as a substrate for protein synthesis and supports metabolic functions in patients unable to tolerate oral or enteral nutrition.
Intravenous infusion: 500 mL to 1 L of 3.5% amino acid solution per day for adults; rate not to exceed 0.1 g amino acids/kg/hr.
Intravenous infusion; typical adult dose: 0.8-1.5 g amino acids/kg/day (11.4-21.4 mL/kg/day of 7% solution); rate not exceeding 0.1 g amino acids/kg/hour.
