ARISTOCORT vs FLORONE

Glucocorticoid receptor agonist; suppresses inflammation by inhibiting phospholipase A2, reducing prostaglandin and leukotriene synthesis; modulates gene expression and immune cell activity.
Glucocorticoid receptor agonist; induces phospholipase A2 inhibitory proteins (lipocortins), which suppress release of arachidonic acid and subsequent prostaglandin/leukotriene synthesis; also suppresses cytokine production and immune cell migration.
Intramuscular: 40-80 mg every 2-4 weeks; Intra-articular: 5-40 mg depending on joint size; Intralesional: 2.5-25 mg; Oral: 4-12 mg/day divided every 6-12 hours.
Topical: Apply a thin layer to affected skin once or twice daily. Maximum use: 45 g/week.
