Asbron is a combination product containing theophylline and guaifenesin. Guaifenesin is an expectorant that increases respiratory tract fluid secretions to reduce mucus viscosity.
Choledyl SA (theophylline, sustained-release) is a methylxanthine that inhibits phosphodiesterase, increasing intracellular cAMP, and blocks adenosine receptors, leading to bronchodilation and anti-inflammatory effects.
1-2 tablets (130-260 mg theophylline equivalent) orally every 6-8 hours; maximum 6 tablets/day.
