Chlorthalidone is a thiazide-like diuretic that inhibits sodium and chloride reabsorption in the distal convoluted tubule, reducing plasma volume and peripheral resistance.
Bendroflumethiazide is a thiazide diuretic that inhibits the sodium-chloride symporter (NCC) in the distal convoluted tubule of the nephron, increasing excretion of sodium, chloride, and water. It also reduces peripheral vascular resistance and has antihypertensive effects.
1 tablet (atenolol 50 mg/chlorthalidone 25 mg) orally once daily. May be increased to 2 tablets once daily.
