Azelastine hydrochloride is a phthalazinone derivative that exerts its effect by competitively inhibiting histamine at the H1 receptor site. Desloratadine is a long-acting tricyclic histamine antagonist with selective peripheral H1-receptor antagonist activity. It inhibits histamine release from mast cells and reduces allergic inflammation.
