BETAMETHASONE DIPROPIONATE vs CORTENEMA

Betamethasone dipropionate is a glucocorticoid receptor agonist that binds to cytosolic glucocorticoid receptors, leading to modulation of gene transcription. It suppresses pro-inflammatory cytokines (e.g., IL-1, IL-2, TNF-α), inhibits phospholipase A2, reduces prostaglandin and leukotriene synthesis, and stabilizes mast cells.
Corticosteroid that binds to the glucocorticoid receptor, modulating gene expression to inhibit phospholipase A2, reduce prostaglandin and leukotriene synthesis, decrease cytokine production, and suppress inflammatory cell migration and activation in the colonic mucosa.
Apply topically as 0.05% cream, ointment, or lotion to affected area once or twice daily. Maximum: 45 g/week.
One enema (100 mg hydrocortisone in 60 mL) administered rectally once daily, preferably at bedtime, for 21 days or until clinical response.
