Betamethasone is a corticosteroid that binds to glucocorticoid receptors, modulating gene expression to reduce inflammation, suppress immune response, and alter connective tissue response.
Corticosteroid with anti-inflammatory, antipruritic, and vasoconstrictive effects. Binds to glucocorticoid receptors, modulating gene expression to inhibit phospholipase A2, reduce prostaglandin and leukotriene synthesis, and suppress cytokine release.
Adults: 1 gram intravenously every 24 hours. For severe infections, 1 gram every 12 hours may be used.
2.5 mg orally twice daily; maximum 10 mg/day.
