Betaxolol is a cardioselective beta-1 adrenergic receptor antagonist. In ophthalmic use, it reduces intraocular pressure by decreasing the production of aqueous humor, likely through blockade of beta-2 receptors in the ciliary epithelium.
Brimonidine is a selective alpha-2 adrenergic receptor agonist that reduces aqueous humor production and increases uveoscleral outflow. Timolol is a non-selective beta-adrenergic receptor blocker that decreases aqueous humor production by inhibiting beta-2 receptors in the ciliary epithelium.
Instill 1 drop in the affected eye(s) twice daily.
One drop of the fixed combination (0.2% brimonidine/0.5% timolol) in the affected eye(s) twice daily, approximately 12 hours apart.

Terminal elimination half-life is approximately 4–6 hours in adults; prolonged in renal impairment and in elderly patients due to decreased clearance.
