Cefoxitin is a cephamycin antibiotic that inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis by binding to penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs), disrupting peptidoglycan cross-linking. It is resistant to many beta-lactamases.
Cephalothin is a first-generation cephalosporin with bactericidal activity by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis via binding to penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs).
1-2 g IV every 6-8 hours. Maximum 12 g/day.
