Cephalothin is a first-generation cephalosporin with bactericidal activity by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis via binding to penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs).
1.5 g IV every 8 hours for moderate to severe infections; may be increased to 3 g IV every 8 hours for severe or life-threatening infections.
1-2 g IV every 4-6 hours; maximum 12 g/day.
