Cephalexin is a first-generation cephalosporin antibiotic that inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis by binding to penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs), thereby inhibiting transpeptidation and disrupting cell wall cross-linking, leading to cell lysis and death.
Cephradine inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis by binding to penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs), inhibiting the final transpeptidation step of peptidoglycan synthesis, leading to cell lysis and death. It is a first-generation cephalosporin with bactericidal activity.
Oral: 250-1000 mg every 6 hours; maximum 4 g/day.
500 mg orally every 6 hours for 10 days.
