Penicillin G benzathine is a slow-release parenteral formulation of penicillin G that inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis by binding to penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs), inhibiting transpeptidation, and activating autolytic enzymes.
Oxacillin is a penicillinase-resistant beta-lactam antibiotic that inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis by binding to penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs), thereby blocking the transpeptidation step in peptidoglycan cross-linking. It is resistant to staphylococcal beta-lactamase.
250 mg orally every 6 hours or 500 mg orally every 12 hours.
1-2 grams IV every 4-6 hours.
