Hydrochlorothiazide is a thiazide diuretic that inhibits the Na+/Cl- cotransporter in the distal convoluted tubule, reducing sodium and water reabsorption and decreasing plasma volume.
Oral, 2.5–5 mg once daily. Maximum dose 10 mg/day.
