Thiazide diuretic that inhibits the sodium-chloride symporter in the distal convoluted tubule of the nephron, reducing sodium and chloride reabsorption and increasing water excretion.
Thiazide-like diuretic that inhibits sodium-chloride symporter in distal convoluted tubule, increasing excretion of sodium, chloride, and water. Reduces peripheral vascular resistance.
Oral, 2.5–5 mg once daily. Maximum dose 10 mg/day.
