ERYTHROMYCIN LACTOBIONATE vs ILOSONE

Erythromycin lactobionate inhibits bacterial protein synthesis by binding to the 50S ribosomal subunit, preventing the translocation of peptides. It may also act as a motilin receptor agonist, enhancing gastrointestinal motility.
Erythromycin (ILOSONE) binds to the 50S subunit of bacterial ribosomes, inhibiting peptide chain elongation and protein synthesis by blocking translocation.
1-4 g/day IV divided every 6 hours; maximum 4 g/day. Infuse over 20-60 minutes.
Erythromycin (Ilosone) base or stearate: 250-500 mg orally every 6 hours. Estolate: 250-500 mg orally every 6 hours. Maximum dose 4 g/day.
