FORBAXIN is a prodrug of the active moiety cefditoren, a cephalosporin antibiotic that inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis by binding to penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs), leading to cell lysis and death.
Mupirocin reversibly binds to bacterial isoleucyl-tRNA synthetase, inhibiting protein synthesis.
IV: 500 mg every 12 hours, infused over 30 minutes.
Apply a small amount of 2% ointment or cream to affected area three times daily for 5 to 14 days.
