H-CORT (hydrocortisone) is a corticosteroid with glucocorticoid and mineralocorticoid activity. Hydrocortisone sodium succinate is a corticosteroid that binds to glucocorticoid receptors, modulating gene expression to produce anti-inflammatory, immunosuppressive, and anti-stress responses. It inhibits phospholipase A2, reducing prostaglandin and leukotriene synthesis.
Intravenous: 100-250 mg as a single dose or up to 1 gram daily for acute conditions. Oral: 20-30 mg daily in divided doses. Maintenance: 5-20 mg daily.
