HETRAZAN vs VERMOX

Diethylcarbamazine (HETRAZAN) sensitizes microfilariae to phagocytosis by immobilizing them and altering their surface, making them more susceptible to destruction by host immune cells. It also has anthelminthic activity against adult worms.
Binds to β-tubulin in parasitic cells, inhibiting microtubule polymerization, thereby impairing glucose uptake and causing energy depletion and parasite death.
2 mg/kg orally three times daily after meals for 3 weeks (total dose 120 mg/kg per course). Maximum single dose: 10 mg/kg.
Mebendazole 100 mg orally twice daily for 3 days for pinworm, whipworm, hookworm, and roundworm infections. For pinworm, may repeat after 2 weeks. For hookworm and whipworm, may require longer courses.
