MEASURIN vs NABUMETONE

Measurin is an aspirin preparation that irreversibly inhibits cyclooxygenase (COX-1 and COX-2), thereby reducing prostaglandin and thromboxane synthesis. This results in analgesic, antipyretic, anti-inflammatory, and antiplatelet effects.
Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that acts as a non-selective inhibitor of cyclooxygenase (COX-1 and COX-2), reducing prostaglandin synthesis. Its active metabolite, 6-methoxy-2-naphthylacetic acid (6MNA), is responsible for its therapeutic effects.
325-650 mg orally every 4-6 hours as needed; maximum 4 g/day.
1000 mg orally once daily with food; may increase to 1500-2000 mg/day in divided doses if needed.

Plasma elimination half-life is 2-3 hours at low doses (antiplatelet) and increases to 15-30 hours at anti-inflammatory doses due to saturation of hepatic metabolism; clinical context: higher doses require longer dosing intervals to avoid accumulation.
Terminal elimination half-life is approximately 22-30 hours in healthy adults, allowing once-daily dosing. Steady state is achieved after 3-5 days.
Renal excretion of salicylate and its metabolites (salicyluric acid, salicyl phenolic glucuronide, salicyl acyl glucuronide, gentisic acid) accounts for >90% of elimination; minor biliary/fecal excretion (<5%) occurs.
Approximately 80% of a dose is excreted in urine as metabolites (primarily 6-methoxy-2-naphthylacetic acid and its glucuronide conjugates), with about 10% excreted in feces. Biliary excretion is minimal.
