Amoxicillin (extended-release) inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis by binding to penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs), inhibiting transpeptidation and autolysin inhibitors, leading to cell lysis and death via activation of autolytic enzymes.
Inhibits bacterial DNA gyrase (topoisomerase II) and topoisomerase IV, preventing DNA replication and transcription.
775 mg orally once daily for 7 days.
400 mg orally or intravenously every 12 hours for 7-14 days; for uncomplicated gonorrhea, 400 mg as a single oral dose.
