NAFCILLIN SODIUM vs PENICILLIN

Nafcillin exerts bactericidal activity by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis via binding to penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs), thereby disrupting peptidoglycan cross-linking. It is resistant to staphylococcal beta-lactamases.
Inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis by binding to penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs), inhibiting transpeptidation and autolysin activation, leading to cell lysis.
1-2 g IV every 4 hours; or 1-2 g IM every 4-6 hours.
Penicillin G: 2-4 million units IV every 4-6 hours; Penicillin V: 250-500 mg orally every 6 hours for mild to moderate infections.
