Symbicort is a combination product containing budesonide, a corticosteroid, and formoterol fumarate dihydrate, a long-acting beta2-adrenergic agonist (LABA). Formoterol stimulates beta2-adrenergic receptors in bronchial smooth muscle, leading to bronchodilation via increased cyclic AMP.
