Penicillin G binds to penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs) located on the bacterial cell wall, inhibiting transpeptidase activity and disrupting peptidoglycan cross-linking, leading to cell lysis.
PROBAMPACIN is a synthetic aminoglycoside antibiotic that inhibits bacterial protein synthesis by binding to the 30S ribosomal subunit, causing misreading of mRNA and preventing translocation of peptidyl-tRNA from the A-site to the P-site.
400 mg orally every 6 hours.
100 mg IV every 12 hours over 30 minutes.
