PIPERACILLIN vs VEETIDS '125'
Comparing the clinical profiles, pharmacokinetic behaviors, and safety indices of these two therapeutic agents.
Inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis by binding to penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs), inhibiting transpeptidation, and activating autolytic enzymes.
VEETIDS '125' (presumed to be a formulation containing penicillin V potassium) inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis by binding to penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs), inhibiting transpeptidase activity, and activating autolytic enzymes.
3.375 g IV every 6 hours (piperacillin-tazobactam); for piperacillin alone, 3 g IV every 6 hours.
125 mg orally twice daily for 5-10 days.
