PREDNISONE vs STATROL

Agonist at glucocorticoid receptors, leading to altered gene transcription that results in anti-inflammatory and immunosuppressive effects, including suppression of cytokines, prostaglandins, and leukotrienes.
Statrol is a combination antibiotic ointment containing polymyxin B sulfate, neomycin sulfate, and gramicidin. Polymyxin B binds to lipopolysaccharides in the outer membrane of gram-negative bacteria, disrupting membrane integrity. Neomycin inhibits protein synthesis by binding to the 30S ribosomal subunit. Gramicidin alters cell membrane permeability in gram-positive bacteria by forming ion channels.
5-60 mg orally once daily or divided twice daily; for acute indications, initial dose 5-60 mg/day; for chronic conditions, lowest effective dose; route: oral, intravenous, intramuscular.
