It acts as a diagnostic imaging agent by localizing in tissues via active transport or diffusion, allowing external detection with gamma cameras.
Ytterbium Yb 169 DTPA is a radiopharmaceutical that emits gamma radiation. After administration, it distributes in the extracellular fluid and is cleared by glomerular filtration. Its mechanism of action is based on physical decay emission of photons for imaging, with no pharmacological effect.
370-1110 MBq (10-30 mCi) intravenously as a single dose for brain imaging; 370-740 MBq (10-20 mCi) intravenously for thyroid imaging; 185-370 MBq (5-10 mCi) intravenously for salivary gland imaging.
