General Pediatric
Diagnosis

Clinical Features
Rapid onset high fever. Typical "tripod or sniffing" position. Sore throat, drooling, stridor, asphyxia. CAUTION: Avoid tongue depression examination as it may cause complete airway blockage.
Emergency Management

Acute Management
Admit and treat as emergency. Intubation or tracheostomy may be needed. Insert IV line. Ceftriaxone 50 mg/kg once daily for 7-10 days.
