General Adult
Treatment
1.
Acute Manic Episode
Discontinue antidepressants. Chlorpromazine 100-200 mg every 8 hours OR Haloperidol 5-10 mg every 12 hours. Adjust based on response.
2.
Mood Stabilizers (Specialist)
Carbamazepine 200 mg at night, increase to 600-1000 mg/day OR Valproate 500-2000 mg/day OR Lithium 900-1800 mg/day (serum target 0.8-1.2 mEq/L).
