Glomerulonephritis — Uganda (General Adult population)
General Management
Monitor urine output, BP, daily weight. Restrict fluid and salt input. Refer inflammatory kidney disease with oedema/oliguria to regional hospital.
Post-streptococcal Infection
Phenoxymethylpenicillin 500 mg every 6 hours for 10 days OR Amoxicillin 500 mg every 8 hours for 10 days. If allergic: Erythromycin 500 mg every 6 hours.
Fluid Overload (Oedema)
Furosemide 80 mg IV (slow bolus).
High Blood Pressure
Nifedipine 20 mg every 12 hours.
