Uganda guidelines for the treatment of Hyperthyroidism

Carbimazole

750 micrograms/kg/day in divided doses (max 30 mg).

Propranolol

250-500 micrograms/kg 3-4 times daily.

First Line

Carbimazole 15-40 mg (max 60 mg) in 2-3 divided doses for 1-2 months. Maintenance: 5-15 mg daily for at least 18 months.

Symptom Control

Add Propranolol 40-80 mg every 12 hours for at least 1 month.
