Osteomyelitis — Uganda (General Adult population)
Acute Management
Immobilise limb, splint. Urgent referral to hospital. Admit and elevate affected limb.
First Line Antibiotic
Cloxacillin 500 mg IV every 6 hours for 2 weeks. Continue orally for at least 4 weeks (up to 3 months).
Surgical
Drainage of abscesses, debridement of foci, excision of sequestra if indicated.
