Pregnant Women
Treatment
1.
Diagnosis
Fever >38°C, chills, lower abdominal pain, foul-smelling lochia, and uterine tenderness.
2.
Emergency Management
Insert IV line and give fluids rapidly. Give IV Ampicillin 2 g every 6 hours + Gentamicin 5 mg/kg IV every 24 hours + Metronidazole 500 mg IV every 8 hours.
3.
Referral
Refer urgently to hospital. Puerperal fever carries high mortality risk.
