Uganda guidelines for the treatment of Tetanus Prevention (Wounds)

Unimmunized/Partial (Clean Wound)

Give full course of TT vaccination (3 doses at 0, 4, 8 weeks). No TIG needed.

Unimmunized/Partial (Dirty Wound)

Give Tetanus Immunoglobulin (TIG) 250 IU IM + Full course of TT vaccination.

Fully Immunized (>10 yrs ago)

Give one booster dose of TT 0.5 mL IM.

TIG Dosing (Child)

Child <5 yrs: 75 IU; 5-10 yrs: 125 IU; >10 yrs: 250 IU IM.
