General Adult
Treatment
1.
Copper IUD
Non-hormonal, effective for up to 10 years. Safe for breastfeeding.
2.
Hormonal IUD (LNG-IUS)
Levonorgestrel-loaded. Also treats heavy periods (menorrhagia).
3.
Side Effect: Cramps/Bleeding
Ibuprofen 400-800 mg 8 hourly for 5 days. For heavy bleeding, consider Tranexamic acid 500 mg 8 hourly.
4.
Warning Signs
Late period, abdominal pain during sex, fever/chills, missing strings.
