RPA Classes

Defining the Three Classes

The RPA was developed using a recursive partitioning algorithm to identify the variables that most strongly predict survival. It remains one of the most widely used systems in clinical trials and bedside practice due to its simplicity.

The Classification Criteria

RPA ClassClinical RequirementsMedian Survival (Months)
Class IKPS ≥ 70, Age < 65 years, Controlled Primary, No Extracranial Metastases.7.1
Class IIIKPS < 70 (Regardless of all other factors).2.3
Class IIAll patients not in Class I or III.4.2

Related Scores in Practice

In clinical practice, this assessment is frequently evaluated alongside other validated measures. Depending on the patient's presentation and specific diagnostic requirements, you may also need to utilize the Gpa Brain Mets, Ds Gpa Index or the SRS Dose Selection (RTOG) to formulate a comprehensive care plan.
