When to Use

Adolescent athletes (typically 10-15 years) presenting with anterior knee pain localized to the tibial tuberosity, especially during or after sports involving repetitive knee extension (e.g., jumping, sprinting, squatting).

Pre-participation physical examinations for young athletes in high-risk sports (basketball, volleyball, soccer, gymnastics) to identify early signs of traction apophysitis.

Monitoring disease progression and response to conservative treatment in patients with confirmed Osgood-Schlatter disease (OSD).

Differentiating OSD from other causes of anterior knee pain such as patellar tendinopathy, Sinding-Larsen-Johansson syndrome, or patellofemoral pain syndrome.

Return-to-sport decision-making after a period of activity modification or rehabilitation.

The Osgood-Schlatter Grading system is primarily used to classify the severity of the condition based on clinical and radiographic findings.
