When to Use

The Trauma and Injury Severity Score (TRISS) is a standardized index used to calculate the probability of survival ($P_s$) for trauma patients. It is the international benchmark for trauma registries and quality assurance programs, allowing centers to compare their actual survival rates against predicted outcomes based on national datasets (e.g., NTDB).

TRISS is a population-based metric and is NOT intended for real-time, individual patient triage or decision-making in the trauma bay.
