When to Use
The MGAP score is a simple, physiological triage tool designed for pre-hospital and emergency department use. It predicts in-hospital mortality in trauma patients using four easily obtainable parameters, allowing for rapid risk stratification without complex anatomical scoring or laboratory data.
The MGAP is a derivation of the GCS-Age-Pressure (GAP) score, adding "Mechanism" to improve discriminatory power in penetrating trauma.
Related Scores in Practice
In clinical practice, this assessment is frequently evaluated alongside other validated measures. Depending on the patient's presentation and specific diagnostic requirements, you may also need to utilize the Rts Score, Gap Score, or the Triss Index to formulate a comprehensive care plan.
