When to Use
The Thoracic Trauma Severity Score (TTSS) is a specialized tool used to predict mortality and the risk of respiratory complications (such as ARDS or pneumonia) in patients with blunt chest trauma. It combines anatomical injury findings (radiographic) with physiological impairment (oxygenation and age).
A TTSS score > 10 is a critical threshold associated with a significantly higher risk of respiratory failure and mortality.
Related Scores in Practice
In clinical practice, this assessment is frequently evaluated alongside other validated measures. Depending on the patient's presentation and specific diagnostic requirements, you may also need to utilize the Ribscore, Ais Score, Iss Score, or the Pf Ratio Calculator to formulate a comprehensive care plan.
