When to Use
While the standard Injury Severity Score (ISS) is the gold standard for describing anatomic injury, it fails to account for the diminished physiologic reserve of older patients. The ISS-Age (or OS-Age) was developed to bridge this gap, providing a more accurate mortality prediction by integrating the "lethality" of age into the anatomic score.

Related Scores in Practice
In clinical practice, this assessment is frequently evaluated alongside other validated measures. Depending on the patient's presentation and specific diagnostic requirements, you may also need to utilize the Injury Severity Score (ISS), New Injury Severity Score (NISS), GTOS, or the TRISS to formulate a comprehensive care plan.
